Artist Statement
Often, my paintings are a reflection of my love of nature and concern for the environment. By emphasizing shapes and colours and play of light and shadow my landscapes come alive with the beauty of nature. In my recent series of paintings, I have used texture, impressionistic brush strokes and high intensity colours . Most of my paintings are inspired by photos I have taken myself, either while cycling around Huron County or paddling a canoe with my husband in the Haliburton area. I hope viewers of my paintings sense the delight I have when I come across a natural element which speaks to me. One of my life's greatest pleasures is putting the finishing touches on a painting which sings with vitality. Perhaps my paintings will invoke a sense of awe in the viewer which may inspire them to value, celebrate and care for our remaining natural spaces.
